UV-C germicidal technology has been recognised since the ‘60s as a valid physical method to control the growth and spread of microbes, viruses, pathogens, spores, and mould.
Light Progress uses UV-C as a physical disinfection method with excellent value for money, which is also ecological and, unlike chemical agents, works against all microorganisms without creating resistance.
How it works
Every microorganism has a specific level of resistance to UV rays, called a DOSE. The specific dose must be administered to obtain a suitable disinfection level, which is expressed as LOG REDUCTION (1 Log=90%, 2 Log=99%, 3 Log=99.9%, etc).
Certain microorganisms therefore require very low UV POWER, while others require more power to obtain the same level of elimination, or alternatively, they may require a longer exposure TIME.
These factors are essential in understanding UV technology:
- Desired disinfection level (LOG reduction);
- Target pathogen (and its DOSE);
- UV Power and irradiation distance geometry;
